The carpenters’ union local will be recruiting six new apprentices in the North Country through early next year.
The Empire State Carpenters Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee, Local Union #747 (Watertown) will conduct the recruiting from Feb. 2, 2012 through Jan. 3, 2013 for six carpenter apprentices.
Applications can be obtained at The WorkPlace, 1000 Coffeen Street, Watertown, NY 13601, on Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and at Carpenters Local Union #747 JATC School, 3247 Vickery Road, North Syracuse, NY from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month, excluding legal holidays.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old; must have a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma; must be physically able to perform the work required; must have reliable transportation to and from work and school; must provide a copy of DD 214 after an offer of employment or indenture is made, if applicant is a veteran; must live in St. Lawrence or one of several other nearby counties; must take UBC qualifying test; and must take a drug test upon acceptance and paid for by the JATC.
