Incumbent St. Lawrence County coroner June H. Wood and Morristown Volunteer Fire Department Chief Kevin J. Crosby have won the three-way Republican primary for two St. Lawrence County coroner seats.
Wood, a licensed funeral home director and adjunct instructor in the Science, Health & Criminal Justice Department at SUNY Canton, received 1,075 votes while Carey received 1,022 in voting on Tuesday.
Canton funeral director Steven M. Cary came in third, with 748 votes.
The results are unofficial and do not include absentee ballots, elections officials say.
Two coroner positions will be on the ballot in November. The other incumbent, long-time coroner Russell B. Lawrence, is not seeking reelection.
