CANTON -- The village board is working on a plan to extend Taylor Park’s operating hours and season.
The village board approved a plan to extend the park’s season and the addition of park use and rules signs at their meeting last week.
The proposed new season would last from April 1 to Oct. 31. The park would also be open until dusk.
Village board members discussed having parks and recreation staffers open the park gates in the morning and the village police locking up at night around sunset.
Parks and Recreation Director Caitlin Boreyko and village trustee Carol Pynchon will be drafting new signage for Taylor Park. Currently there are signs citing beach rules there. New signs would cover general park rules as well and be more consolidated.
“I like it. Taylor Park is definitely underused right now,” said Pynchon.
