CANTON -- Regent Beverly Ouderkirk recently visited Little River Community School, 1227 County Route 27.
Students at the school set up a luncheon and baked a peanut butter cake for her. Twenty students, of all ages, fielded questions about the school from Ouderkirk over lunch and gave her a tour of the building and grounds.
She also sat in on Gwen Smith's presentation of her senior portfolio to her classmates and staff. She was so impressed with the fifty page portfolio that she asked to have a copy.
Ouderkirk also went away with a Little River tote bag emblazed with the slogan, "Kids listen to people who listen to them," vowing to bring the bag and set it out at the next Regents meeting in Albany.
