CANTON – Frazer Computing is nearing completion of more than doubling their office space on U.S. Highway 11 and say they are hiring about 10 more people.

Frazer Computing, 6196 U.S. Highway 11, is a used car dealership software company that employs around 65 people but will look to hire over 100 employees over the next few years.

“We’re hiring like crazy,” said owner Michael Frazer.

The unusually warm weather allowed for construction to move along well.

“Things are going great…the weather has been spectacular,” Frazer said.

The multi-story building will add 14,000 square feet of space to the existing 11,000 square feet for a total of 25,000 square feet of office space. Les Baker from Colton is doing the work.

“The building itself goes up pretty quick but it is all the little inside jobs that take time,” he said.

Frazer believes employees might move into the new section in early April with more hiring to take place around then.

Frazer Computer, 6196 U.S. Highway 11, has seen its customer base more than double since 2011 and needs space to accommodate more employees needed in the coming months and years.

He says business is “better than they could have imagined” but noted he has very few clients in St. Lawrence County and only 140 in New York.

Frazer said a lot of his clients are in the same area and he credits that to word of mouth advertising.

Frazer, a Potsdam native, started the Frazer Computing while living in Atlanta in 1985, but decided to move back to the North Country in 2001 to grow the company.

Frazer Computing has a major portion of the market share compared to other dealer management systems across the country, according to Frazer. He said there about 130,000 used car dealerships in the country and 14,500 of them are customers of his.

The software provides record-keeping, financing, tracking vehicles, costs, expenses and profits for dealers.
