CANTON – Court Street is expected to be closed at Main Street for about two weeks starting Monday, and Main Street will be down to one lane there as work on the road and utility upgrades continues.
The state Department of Transportation says work on utility vaults and water and sewer and storm drainage relocations will require the closures.
During the relocations, U.S. Route 11, Main Street, will be reduced to a single lane during work hours with traffic controlled by a flagger. It will reopen to two-way traffic during non-working hours.
DOT expects the work to be done in about two weeks.
This work is part of the $9.5 million project reworking a one-mile stretch of Main Street, being carried out by contractor Luck Brothers of Plattsburgh. The project is scheduled for completion by the fall 2013.
