CANTON -- Doris Dominie was honored by family and friends in celebration of her 100th birthday Sunday, Feb. 24 at the Maplewood Campus of the United Helpers Nursing Home.
Born on February 22, 1913 in Churubusco to Alfred and Cora Miller Viancour, Doris moved with her parents to a farm home on the Cassidy Road in Hermon where she lived until her marriage to Leonard Dominie on April 14, 1931. Doris and Leonard were part of the Canton farming community for over 40 years until their retirement in 1972.
Leonard died in 1989 and Doris later moved to a Senior Citizens Housing apartment in Canton and then to Maplewood Campus.
Doris was joined at the birthday open house by her children, Bernard Dominie, Margaret Ames and Jean Salton, along with many of her 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
