CANTON – A Canton woman was arrested Friday for allegedly stealing between $40,000 and $50,000 from a Morley wireless company where she worked, according to St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Deputies.
Following a more than year-long investigation, Angela L. McCormick, 35, 145 Janes Rd., Canton, was charged with third-degree grand larceny and first-degree falsifying business records.
According to deputies, Premier Paging and Wireless Inc. of Morley owner Mike Morgan reported to the sheriff's office that an employee had been stealing funds between January 2008 to September 2009 and the amount was close to $50,000.
Deputies said McCormick had created PayPal accounts, double-paid herself, and wrote company checks to herself for personal gain, and changed the accounting books to show those payments to look like they went to regular vendors of the company.
McCormick appeared before Canton Justice Storie and released to probation supervision.
