CANTON -- The Canton Village Board of Trustees meets tonight to hear Mayor Mary Ann Ashley’s “state of the village” report.

Ashley will review 2013 in Canton, which included the completion of the long project to renew and reconfigure the roadway of Main Street – U.S. Rt. 11 – from Stiles Avenue to Riverside Drive, and will outline of goals for the village in the next few years.

The board will also take up the mater of the YESeleven proposal to upgrade U.S. Rt. 11 from I-81 to I-87, although no action on the proposal is on the agenda.

The board is also expected to discuss student interns and community-based learning, the food service contract at the municipal golf course, the Canton Chamber of Commerce Winterfest and celebration dinner next month, and the Canton-Potsdam merger feasibility study.

The board will convene at 6 p.m. in executive session in the Municipal Building Board Room to discuss issues related to Public Officers Law, and will open for the regular session at 7.

The meeting is being held tonight rather than the usual third-Monday date due to Martin Luther King Day Monday.
