CANTON -- Mayor Mary Ann Ashley says she will accept Trustee Daniel McDonnell’s resignation at the next regular board meeting Aug. 18.
McDonnell announced at a special meeting of the board Thursday that he has accepted a job in real estate in Portland, Maine, and is leaving his current job as assistant director of St. Lawrence University’s outdoor academic program.
“I have learned so much from Dan,” Mayor Ashley said after the meeting.
“I have appreciated his integrity, ethics and commitment of the time he has put in as a trustee,” she said, and noted the work he has done with the board’s committees on the golf course, shared services, infrastructure, and the Waterfront Advisory Committee coordinated with the town, which has been working to establish a white water park in Canton.
McDonnell has been serving in his first term as a village trustee.
