CANTON -- The Canton village board has approved two new firefighters and authorized a search for a new part-time police dispatcher after a retirement in the department.
Helen J. Bunt, a full-time dispatcher, retired but returned as a part-timer. She will leave that position on Dec. 31.
The Board of Trustees, at their Nov. 21 meeting, agreed to begin searching for a replacement, according to Mayor Mike Dalton.
He said the board also officially named two new volunteer firefighters to Canton Fire and Rescue.
Trent Martin and Dan Holcomb are the newest members of the Canton fire department.
Dalton said they are not official village employees, but the vote allows them to be added to insurance and disability policies.
