CANTON -- The Canton Tree Committee wants to remind Canton residents that the emerald ash borer has been located in St. Lawrence County and some people fear it could kill more than 80 percent of the ash trees in the region.
Although the ash is a common tree, many local residents cannot recognize it. Luckily for Canton residents, there are five at the St. Lawrence County Public Safety building, three along Pearl Street and two between the sidewalk and Court Street.
If you wish to identify if you have an ash tree you can go there and compare the trees and leaves to those on your property.
