CANTON -- Travel agency Travel Unlimited will be staying at what was to be a temporary location at 367 Judson Street Road.

Two years ago, during the rebuilding of the Main Street roadway, Travel Unlimited owner Deb Christy decided to take advantage of an offer from the road contractor to rent her travel agency building and parking lot at 18 Park St. for them to use to use as a local office while the work went on.

She said at the time that the contractor, Luck Brothers of Plattsburgh, wanted a spot close to Main Street, they liked the parking lot, and they could reach it from Park Street and from behind the lot.

So Christy decided to take them up on their offer, and moved her business to a home office on the Judson Street Road.

The contractor’s lease ended with the new year, and Christy went about renovating the 1,300-sqaure-foot building downtown.

“But 90 percent of my business has been on the phone, and business has been fine,” she said, so the business will stay put and she will accept offers on 18 Park Street.

“It’s a good location, just off Main, with lots of parking,” she said.

Travel Unlimited, 367 Judson Street Road, is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and nights and weekends by appointment. The telephone number remains 386-8525.
