CANTON -- The town board on Oct. 11 renewed an agreement with Gouverneur dog control officer Daniel Moyer to provide dog pound services at his facility.

The agreement remains unchanged from last year.

Under the agreement, Moyer will provide dog pound boarding services for dogs seized in the town of Canton by the town dog control officer and state police.

The agreement reads that Moyer “will provide care for all dogs accepted at the facility, with board and keep for any mandated period; and thereafter will humanely euthanize or make available for adoption seized dogs not redeemed as provided in Article 7 of the New York State Agriculture & Markets Law.”

The service will cost $15 per day per dog boarded.

The town will pay Moyer $50 for euthanasia and burial of any dog requiring that process.
