CANTON -- There’s a new trustee in town.
Klaus Proemm has been officially appointed to fill out the remaining term of former village trustee Dwight Stevenson.
Proemm, until recently a Canton planning board member, was unanimously approved by the village board of trustees at their meeting Monday, Oct. 16.
The new trustee has been a regular face at the village and often the town board meetings.
The board agreed to appoint Jessica Proudy to serve on the planning board in Proemm’s stead.
Village trustees had intended to approve Proemm’s appointment at their meeting last month, but Proemm had asked for a short delay so he could conclude his work with the planning board. Proemm is also running in the upcoming election for the open trustee seat on the board.
Stevenson resigned his position on the village board in August to pursue an employment opportunity in Saranac Lake.
