CANTON -- Canton’s downtown Route 11 detour could be removed by Friday afternoon, according to Department of Transportation spokesman Michael Flick.
Flick said a change in work related to the CSX railroad crossing caused some project modifications.
“Our original plans had been designed around a CSX crossing, but the crossing was upgraded beyond what we had originally planned for, so the detour was up a bit longer than we expect,” Flick said.
After the detour is removed, Flick said work will continue and traffic will still be delayed at times.
“Once the crossing is done we will be getting toward the end of the project. We will probably still have some work going around there with single lane traffic and flaggers,” Flick said. “There is some paving left to do and then there will be some punch list items to finish up.”
The project is scheduled for completion Nov. 30.
