CANTON -- Town residents who own property may pay their 2018 taxes on or before Jan. 31 without interest, announced town clerk and tax collector Lisa Hammond.
The tax collector recently posted a notice of receipt of tax roll and warrant on the town’s website, www.cantonnewyork.us.
Taxes can be received at her office at 60 Main St. during normal business hours, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, the notice said.
Taxes received after the 30-day penalty free period will have interest added at a rate of 1 percent for each month or fraction thereof until such taxes are paid, or until they are paid to the county treasurer’s office.
The due date for payment of unpaid taxes to the treasurer is June 1, 2018.
