CANTON -- At an Oct. 4 meeting, the Canton Community Fund (CCF) awarded a grant of $1,200 to the Canton Recreation Department to fund improvements to the basketball facilities at Taylor Park.

The grant will cover the cost of a basketball hoop post, backboard, rim and net, according to a news release from the CCF board.

The equipment is part of a larger initiative to improve facilties at Taylor Park, which is jointly administered by both the Town and Village of Canton, and will likely be installed next spring, the release said.

The CCF encourages representatives of non-profit groups and organizations serving the Town and Village of Canton to apply for grants to further their work. Guidelines, as well as tips for making a gift and other information about the CCF, can be found at www.cantoncommunityfund.org. The fund is a subsidiary organization of the Northern New York Community Foundation, which manages its finances.
