Canton-Potsdam Hospital receives certification from American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Canton-Potsdam Hospital’s (CPH) cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs have ben certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR).

Cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation programs are designed to help people with cardiovascular problems such as heart attacks, coronary artery bypass graft surgery, and pulmonary problems such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other respiratory symptoms, recover faster and improve their quality of life. Both programs include exercise, education, counseling, and support for patients and their families.

CPH was recognized for its commitment to improving the quality of life by enhancing standards of care.

CPH’s cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs participated in an application process that requires extensive documentation of the program’s practices.

“Being certified means we’ve passed all the audits and tests required by AACVPR. Our patients can be assured they are being provided with the best possible care and should expect the best possible outcomes as we follow strict guidelines set by Medicare and the AACVPR,” said Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program Director Krystle Burgoyne.

AACVPR-certified programs are recognized as leaders in the field of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation because they offer the most advanced practices available, according to a press release from St. Lawrence Health System, parent company of Canton-Potsdam Hospital.

AACVPR certification is valid for three years.
