POTSDAM -- Canton-Potsdam Hospital has begun offering inpatient and outpatient speech therapy on a full time basis.
Meghann Langelier joined the hospital in January 2012 to provide part-time services, and is now expanding her practice to accommodate more patients.
Services are offered five days per week at the main campus and the Lawrence Avenue campus.
Speech therapy is used to help people with alaryngeal communication, attention, augmentative-alternative communication, fluency, memory, motor speech, pragmatics, problem solving, reading, receptive/spoken language comprehension, expressive language comprehension, swallowing, voice, voice following tracheostomy and writing.
Treated disorders include aphasia, apraxia, stroke, TBI, dysphagia, developmental delays, dysarthria, polyps, granulomas, nodules, head/neck cancers, ALS, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy and autism.
