CPH SOAR Graduating Class of 2015, with Sheryl Movsas.
POTSDAM -- St. Lawrence Health System’s Canton-Potsdam Hospital recently held its first SOAR course, “Screenings, Consults, and Tests, Oh My” at 20 Cottage St., featuring five physicians as guest speakers. The five sessions were filled to capacity, with a waiting list, according to SLHS.
The topics were “Old and New GI Issues; History, Myth, and Mystery” (Sebastian Mazzotta, gastroenterologist); “What’s all the Buzz about Population Health?” (Frederic Seifer, pulmonologist); “Screenings and the Importance of Early Detection” (Velma Matthews-Smith, oncologist); “Getting to the Heart of the Matter” (Richard Wessel, cardiologist), and “Gait, Balance, and Fall Prevention” (Sheryl Movsas, physiatrist). The format was lecture – style, with opportunities for questions. Lunch was provided.
S.O.A.R (Stimulating Opportunities after Retirement), is a member-directed learning group, sponsored locally by SUNY Potsdam through the Center for Lifelong Education and Recreation (CLEAR). SOAR is affiliated with the Road Scholar Institute Network.
