POTSDAM -- Forty-two community members were in attendance as Canton-Potsdam Hospital hosted a community talk on breast cancer diagnosis and treatment recently in the Barben Rooms of Clarkson University
Guest speakers were Dr. Stephen B. Edge, Roswell Park Cancer Institute; Dr. Velmalia Matthews-Smith, CPH’s Center for Cancer Care, and Dr. Jay Dewell, Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Edge is a National Cancer Institute Fellow and has been a leader in the field of surgical oncology at Roswell Park for 20 years. Matthews-Smith is a medical oncologist at Canton-Potsdam Hospital’s Center for Cancer Care. Dewell is a general surgeon, with a subspecialty in breast surgery at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
