POTSDAM -- Canton-Potsdam Hospital’s Center for Cancer Care has a new director.
Mark Serago has been appointed to succeed Linda Richards, interim director since October 2014.
Serago is responsible for administration of the center, including patient navigation, social work, complementary healthcare services, support groups, licensure and accreditation, and staff development.
Serago begins his duties with CPH’s Center for Cancer Care Monday, Feb. 23.
Serago previously was assistant vice president of oncology services for Mountain States Health Alliance, Johnson City, Tenn., where he oversaw physician recruitment, staff development, and patient services for several medical facilities’ cancer care programs and facilities, including pediatric oncology, surgical oncology, and data analysis in oncology services. Serago has over ten years of experience in cancer care service development.
He began his career as a radiation dosimetrist at Baptist Hospital of Miami, a 513-bed not-for-profit facility in Florida.
A graduate of Penn State’s biology bachelor’s program, Serago went on to complete graduate management education in human resource development. He also holds Level II NDT Nuclear Specialist certification.
