POTSDAM -- Canton-Potsdam Hospital recently gave money to Clarkson University’s Students Without Borders for the organization’s medical mission trip to the Dominican Republic, scheduled for mid-March.
Sixteen student physician assistants will travel to the island nation to provide free medical care to an underserved community.
The students will be accompanied by preceptors T. Nick Knowles, Susan J. Knowles, Terri E. Joyce, Patricia Snider, Keith B. Young (director of the Department of Physician Assistant Studies), Joan Caruso and Kiri Brandy.
In addition to providing community care, students and preceptors will participate in surgery at a hospital in the Dominican Republic to learn about constraints involved in providing optimal care with minimal or outdated equipment.
