CANTON – The Canton Police Department is partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration at Kinney Drugs in Canton to collect unwanted, unneeded or expired prescription drugs from residents for safe disposal.
“We think this is a great way for the public to dispose of their unused medicine, rather than flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the garbage, which is a safety and health hazard,” said Canton Police Chief Lori McDougal. “We encourage residents to clean out their medicine cabinets to make their homes safe from drug theft and abuse.”
The Canton Kinneys will accept those items Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Needles and epi-pens will not be accepted.
Collection sites will be set up nationwide that day. If you would like to look for other sires nearby, visit www.dea.gov. The site will be continuously updated with new take-back locations.
