CANTON -- After some delay, night paving on U.S. Route 11 is scheduled to begin Tuesday, Oct. 16, according to Michael Flick, NYS Department of Transportation Public Information Officer.
Weather, traffic, and unplanned obstacles delayed the start of overnight paving, originally planed to begin Oct. 8.
Lights and other preparations for the paving were tested along Main Street Thursday night, but no actual work has begun to date.
The night paving is the next phase of the $10 million DOT Canton Village Reconstruction Project that has been underway in recent months.
The paving will occur between the hours of 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. between Riverside Drive and Park Place, with traffic controlled by flaggers.
The project includes new drainage, curb and sidewalk work, as well as a total rebuild of the road, and is scheduled to be finished this time next year.
