CANTON – Canton native and Boston University forward Jordan Greenway was named US Player of the Game in the team’s first game in the 2017 World Junior Championships.

The U.S. National Team beat the Latvian juniors 6-1 in Monday’s game in Toronto.

Greenway, 6-foot-5 and 230 pounds, is one of six Boston University skaters named to the national squad.

“Greenway made his physical presence known, always getting in the face of the goaltender and being involved in extra-curriculars after what seemed like every whistle,” said the game story at HockeyWilderness.com.

“At 6’5” tall, Greenway is definitely a big, physical forward, who looks to get under the skin of his opponents. He handles and protects the puck well when he gets it on his stick, and he has the look of one day becoming a prototypical power forward. He scored in the final minute of the game off a rebound,” said the online story.

The U.S. squad plays again today against the Russian juniors and Saturday against Canada’s juniors.
