Lieutenant Junior Grade (LTjg) Cody Hastings, a native of Canton, and currently stationed at Naval Air Station Kingsville, Texas, has completed his initial Navy jet pilot carrier qualification onboard the aircraft carrier USS George H. W. Bush (CVN-77) from December 10-11 in the Atlantic Ocean.
During this intense qualification process, LTjg Hastings had to perform 4 touch and goes, 10 arrestment landings (traps), and 10 catapult launches (cat shots) off the deck of the aircraft carrier in his U.S. Navy T-45C Goshawk jet.
Recent training has included instrument flying, formation flying, aerobatics, and learning how to fly on and off the aircraft carrier.
He has been serving on active duty for almost 10 years and is also a civilian instructor pilot.
