Canton motorcyclist in Vermont hospital after striking deer in Potsdam, landing in swamp

POTSDAM – A Canton man is in a Vermont hospital for treatment of internal injuries received when he lost control of his motorcycle after striking a deer.

According to St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies, the accident occurred about 6:45 p.m. Saturday as Brandon L. Lottie, 20, of 20 West Main St., Canton, was traveling south on County Route 35.

After losing control of the motorcycle, he landed in a shallow swamp, deputies said.

Lottie was transported by the Potsdam Volunteer Rescue Squad to Canton-Potsdam Hospital. He was later transferred to Fletcher-Allen Medical Center, Burlington, Vt.

Deputies were assisted on the scene by the West Potsdam Volunteer Fire Department and First Responders.

Lottie was ticketed for speed not reasonable and uninsured motorcycle, deputies said.
