Police said Spencer A. Lincoln, 31, of 6487 County Route 27, Canton, was discovered inside the residence by the homeowner. Lincoln then fled the residence and left the scene in a van. An officer responding to the burglary report from the homeowner, subsequently witnessed Lincoln’s van fail to stop for the stop sign on Fairlane Drive and then turn right onto Riverside Drive, said police.

The officer conducted a traffic stop of the van and Lincoln was found to have stolen property inside the vehicle, Canton police said. During a search of the vehicle, the officer reportedly found a small amount of cash, a wallet and a power tool, which belonged to another resident who lives on Woods Drive, as well as other property.

A follow-up investigation confirmed that Lincoln had allegedly burgled two separate residences on Woods Drive.

Lincoln was charged with two counts of second-degree burglary, three counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and failure to stop for a stop sign.

He was arraigned town court and remanded to the St. Lawrence County jail on $5,000 cash or $10,000 secured bond bail.
