WADDINGTON – A Canton man was being held on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond following his arrest this morning on allegations he broke into a house in Waddington and took more than $2,000 in cash and a $3,000 diamond from a safe.
Dustin R. Sheridan, 27, 8 Mechanic St., Canton, was charged by the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office with second-degree burglary, a Class C felony, third-degree criminal possession of stolen property and third-degree grand larceny, both D felonies, and third-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.
The arrests come following an investigation of the break-in, which occurred at the Rookey Road residence last week.
Sheridan was arraigned before Pierrepont Town Justice Robert Camp, where bail was set and he was ordered to appear in court Aug. 15.
Sheriff’s detectives were assisted by Massena police, the sate police Narcotics Unit and the St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force.
The investigation is continuing and further arrests are expected, the sheriff’s office said.
