FOWLER – Ernest G. Turnbull, 42, 428 Pink Schoolhouse Rd., Canton, was charged with driving while intoxicated Wednesday after allegedly damaging his truck in hitting a wall at Tripp’s Store.
St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies measured Turnbull’s blood alcohol level at .20 percent, two and a half times the .08 percent threshold for a DWI charge.
Deputies were called when a resident of Fowler off of State Rt. 58 called complaining of an apparently intoxicated person knocking on the door.
When they arrived, deputies found Turnbull, and noticed damage to his 2004 Dodge pickup truck, allegedly sustained when the vehicle hit the wall.
More charges are possible, but deputies so far have charged Turnbull with DWI, aggravated DWI, and leaving the scene of an accident.
