Canton man charged with possessing child porn stashed in the woods

CANTON -- A Canton man faces felony charges after police said he possessed at least 38 illegal images, including child pornography, following an investigation involving Homeland Security.

Adam A. Gardam, 31, of 33 East Main St., was charged with possession images of an obscene sexual performances performed by a child, following an investigation that began Jan. 29.

Canton police said residents of the Woods Drive area reported finding pornographic images in a wooded area behind some residences.

Police said the pictures showed minors in "various stages of undress" and appeared to be printed from a home computer.

Police said the investigation led them to Gardam.

After obtaining a warrant, police searched his home and seized computer equipment, a camera and other electronic devices.

The items were turned over to the Department of Homeland Security Internet Crimes Division for forensic processing.

It is alleged that that Gardam possessed 38 images, which were illegal to possess under New York State Penal Law.

Gardam was arraigned in Canton Village Court and released to the supervision of probation. The investigation is ongoing and more charges may be pending.

The Department of Homeland Security based out of Massena assisted Canton Village Police in the investigation.
