CANTON -- A Canton man is charged with hitting a teen with his truck while driving drunk and fleeing the scene at 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
Dustin W. Rookey, 25, of 38 Pollock Road was charged with driving while intoxicated and fleeing the scene of a personal injury accident after he allegedly hit a teen girl with his truck.
Police said Rookey hit Emily Baldwin, 18, of New Cannan, Connecticut when she was crossing a the road in a cross walk on Park Street with her friend Liana Baker.
Canton Rescue also responded to the call.
Police say Rookey fled the scene, but was found based on his vehicle description obtained by police at the scene.
St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies located Rookey, on State Route 11, near DeKalb Junction.
Canton Police said Rookey’s blood alcohol content was allegedly .12 percent.
Rookey was released on appearance tickets and taken to his residence by relatives. He is to appear in Canton Town Court at a later date.
Baldwin was treated at CPH for minor injuries consisting of bruises and contusions.
