RUSSELL – A Canton man has been charged with criminal possession of stolen property and theft of services for making several hundred dollars worth of unauthorized calls after finding a cell phone by the side of the road.
On Monday, St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies cited Justin J. Revet, 33, who gave his address as 62 Law Lane, Canton, on the charges. However, officials from the Canton Housing Authority, which owns the property, says he does not live at the complex and the tenant does not know Revet.
Deputies say he found a lost cell phone sometime between Nov. 29, 2010 and Jan. 3 and use the Sim card from the phone to make “several hundred dollars” worth of phone calls and text messages.
He was arraigned in Russell Town Court and released under the supervision of the county Probation Department, deputies said.
