Participants from Canton and Lisbon in the Seaway Valley Prevention Council’s Reality Check traveled to Colgate University in July for the 2015 Statewide Reality Check Youth Summit.
They took part in workshops with other Reality Check youth from all over the state.
The girls were trained in public speaking, tobacco control issues, social media, and advocacy. They attended workshops on eliminating smoking in youth-rated films, using social media to spread their message, and how to advocate reduction in store tobacco marketing in their communities.
The youth were able to work on public speaking well known ex-tobacco executive turned tobacco control advocate La Tanisha Right.
