Canton, Lisbon residents arrested for assault in unrelated cases

Canton and Waddington residents have been charged with assault in unrelated cases, according to state police.

James C. Belonge, 35, of County Route 25, Canton, was charged with third degree assault and second degree harassment-physical contact after police responded to a reported domestic dispute with his girlfriend in Fowler at 9:44 p.m. June 12. He was held in lieu of bail following the arrests, police said.

Claire A. Murphy, 23, of 11290 NYS Hwy. 37, Waddington, Lisbon, was charged with third degree assault-intent to cause injury and criminal mischief-intent to damage property at 10:42 p.m. after police responded to a reported fight at Mack's Tavern in Waddington.

Police said Murphy struck another patron with a beer bottle, causing an approximate three-inch cut below the right eye. She then proceeded to damage the vehicle owned by the other patron, police said. She was arrested after she turned herself in at state police barracks in Massena, police said.
