Canton library schedules special class after being inundated with people seeking help downloading eBooks

CANTON – The executive director of the Canton Free Library says the staff has called in reinforcement because they have been inundated with requests for help using tablets and other devices to download eBooks.

"We are swamped with requests on how to use these gadgets without the time or

staff to do one-on-one instructions." Director Lyn Swafford wrote in an "emergency" press release sent out Tuesday, just two days after the new devices started piling up under people's Christmas trees. "We knew there would be an increased interest, but the demand is even more than we expected."

To help all the new gadget owners get the most from their presents, Swafford has arranged an impromptu class at the library Thursday, Dec. 29 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on a drop-in basis.

Two experts from the North Country Library System will be on hand to answer questions and give assistance in the use of the devices.

For more information, call the library at 386-3712.
