CANTON -- The Golden Bear Gym Renovation GoFundMe campaign has raised 50 percent of its $8,000 goal in one week.
The Canton High School Bear's Den is desperately in need of a renovation. The padding at the end of the gym is ripped and championship banners are falling apart.
“In honor of the 80th anniversary of the Golden Bear, we are looking for 80 people to donate $100 each which will raise enough money to replace the banners and the padding,” a statement from organizers says on GoFundMe.com.
Organizers said that if they are able to do that, the gym will be completely repainted, the banners will be put up and the padding will all be replaced before the 2016-17 school year.
“We want to make sure the long history of athletic accomplishments at Canton Central is well represented in our gymnasium. Help us make the Bear's Den the sharpest looking gym in all of section 10,” the statement said.
