Canton Central School sets dates for budget hearing, board of education elections

CANTON – Canton Central School District has set its official 2012-13 budget hearing and voting date for the budget and school board members.

The public hearing will be in the Hugh C. Williams High School Learning Resource Center at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 3.

The budget vote and election will be Tuesday, May 15 in the Learning Resource Center from noon to 9 p.m.

The school district budget has not been finalized, but information regarding the budget to be voted upon will be mailed to district residents by May 9. Copies of the budget, as well as the tax exemption impact report, are in the district office and can be viewed between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays as of April 26.

Three three-year board of education seats are up for election. Petition forms for the vacancies will be available April 2 through 6, and Monday April 16, from Cynthia A. Whitford at the District Office and from the Canton Free LibraryApril 7 through April 16.

Petitions must be filed no later than 5 p.m. April 16.

Voters can get absentee ballots from the district office on school days from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
