CANTON -- The Canton Central School Board of Education approved several appointments and a pair of resignations at their meeting Thursday night.
Sarah Richardson resigned from the position of special education teacher. Kierstin Sovie stepped down from a cleaner position.
Appointments included:
• Vickie Bregg, long-term substitute, special education, effective retroactively to Aug. 31 through on/or about Sept. 29, at a rate of $105 per day, for the first ten days to be paid $217 per day, retroactive to the first of ten consecutive days, which does not include days when school is not in session.
• James Belonge, substitute bus garage helper, effective retroactively to August 16, 2017, at a rate of $10.50 per hour.
• Elaine Maxon, hourly teacher aide, effective retroactively to Aug. 31, at a rate of $10.50 per hour.
• Thomas Maroney, mechanic/bus driver, effective Sept. 11 at a pro-rated salary of $41,812, pending final administrative approval.
• Kierstin Sovie, teacher aide, per the needs of the student, effective retroactively to Aug. 31, at a pro-rated salary of $14,175.
• Mandy McCluskey, teacher aide, per the needs of the student, effective retroactively to Aug. 31 at a pro-rated salary of $14,175.
• Deborah Lyndaker, teacher aide, per the needs of the student, effective retroactively to Aug. 31 at a salary of $14,175.
• Christopher Colon, cleaner, probationary appointment, effective Sept. 28 at a pro-rated salary of $26,750.
Mentor teachers were also appointed for the 2017-18 school year at a stipend of $500. They included: Danielle Gray, Sue Serfis, Megan Smith, Joe Anderson, Drew White, and Mary Rodee.
