CANTON -- A Canton high school student was removed from school grounds today and the Canton police department called in to investigate threatening remarks made by the student.
A statement issued by school superintendent William Gregory Tuesday afternoon said school officials learned of past remarks allegedly made by the student to other students, wherein the student alluded to harming others.
School officials immediately took steps to ensure safety, the statement said. The matter was turned over to law enforcement and the student removed, said the school.
No one was harmed or directly threatened by the student, the school said.
“We understand situations such as this are troubling to our parents, students, and community. We want to ensure you that school administration has, and will continue to take all proper actions required by law and that are in the best interests of our students and our staff. As this situation is now in the hands of law enforcement, we are unable to comment further at this time. We will share updates as appropriate,” said the statement.
