Canton Central Board of Education makes appointments, accepts retirement, approves teaching positions

CANTON -- The Canton Central School Board of Education made several appointments and accepted a retirement, leaves of absences and approved several teaching positions at their Jan. 25 meeting.

Appointments included:

Retirement: Anna Van Brocklin, from the position of food service worker, effective June 28.

Resignation: Deborah Lyndaker, from the position of teacher aide, effective Jan. 26, 2018.

Leaves of Absences:

• Agnes Toth, Teaching Assistant, paid medical leave, effective Feb. 1, 2018 through

on or about March 19, 2018, all of which falls under the family medical leave act.

• Michael Wentworth, physical education teacher, paid medical leave,

effective Feb. 13, 2018 through on or about March 2, 2018, all of which falls under

the Family Medical Leave Act.

Appointments:

• Shannon teRiele and Vickie Hanson, hourly teacher aides, per the needs of the

student, position not to exceed 10 hours per week, effective retroactively to Jan. 16,

2018, at the rate of $10.50 per hour.

• Zach Zeller, long-term substitute for teaching assistant, Agnes Toth, effective Feb.

1, 2018 through on or about March 19, 2018, at a rate of $10.50 per hour for the first ten

days (to be paid $108.50 per day retroactive to the first of ten consecutive days, which

does not include days when school is not in session).

• Angela Thomas, teacher aide (hourly), per the needs of the student, effective Jan.

29, at a rate of $10.50 per hour.
