Canton Central approves winter coaches, retirements, resignation

CANTON -- The Canton Central School Board of Education recently approved coaches for winter sports, and accepted two retirements and a resignation:

The district will lose an English and mathematics teacher next June. Mary McGovern will retire from teaching English, effective June 30, 2019. Randall Brown will retire June 30, 2019 from the position of mathematics teacher.

Both teachers served in the district for many years and the board offered their appreciation for their service.

Kasey Murray resigned as a teacher aide, effective Nov. 16.

The school board approved a slate of basketball, hockey, indoor track, swimming, and wrestling coaches for the 2018-19 season.

• Troy Lassial will serve as boys varsity basketball coach at a stipend of $5,511.

• William Porter was named boys junior varsity basketball at a stipend of $4,549.

• Alicia Wentworth will be the boys modified basketball at a stipend of $3,033.

• George Gordon will serve as an unpaid assistant boys varsity and JV basketball coach.

• Todd Furnia was appointed as an unpaid assistant boys JV basketball coach.

• James DiSalvo is the girls varsity basketball coach at a stipend of $6,065.

• Michael Wentworth was named the girls JV basketball Coach at a stipend of $4,549.

• Stephanie Porter was appointed as an unpaid girls modified, JV and varsity basketball assistant coach.

• Arthur Quackenbush will be an unpaid assistant girls modified basketball.

• Randy Sieminski was approved to be an unpaid assistant girls varsity basketball coach.

• Robert Liggio will serve as a co-assistant boys varsity hockey coach at a stipend of $1,408.

• Jacob Newman was named co-assistant boys varsity hockey coach at a stipend of $1,408.

• Anita Francis, will coach girls varsity hockey at a stipend of $6,065.

• Lance Casey will be a co-assistant girls ice hockey coach at a stipend of $1,408, pending final administrative approval.

• Margret Troiano will be a co-assistant girls ice hockey coach at a stipend of $1,408, pending final administrative approval.

• Kristopher Boettcher was named girls varsity indoor track coach at a stipend of $5,021.

• Bryan Huntley will coach boys varsity indoor track at a stipend of $5,021.

• Shannon Shannon was named assistant boys and girls varsity and modified indoor track coach at a stipend of $3,515.

• Agnes Toth was appointed as boys and girls modified indoor track coach and varsity assistant

indoor track coach at a stipend of $4,246.

• Mary McGovern was approved as the varsity boys swimming coach at a stipend of $6,065.

• Michelle Garrow, will serve as an unpaid assistant boys varsity swimming coach, pending final administrative approval.

• Dylan Morrison was appointed as varsity wresting coach at a stipend of $4,442.

• Alan Rossner, will be the modified wrestling coach at a stipend of $2,012.

• Michael Haycook was appointed as an unpaid modified and varsity wrestling coach.
