Canton boy celebrates National Down Syndrome Day
CANTON -- Jesse Pete, son of Jeremy and Laurie Pete celebrated National Down Syndrome Awareness Day on Friday."He is rocking his extra chromosome today!" his mother wrote via email.
Down syndrome, according to the National Down Syndrome Society occurs when a person has a full or partial extra copy of chromosome 21 in their DNA.

The group says one in 691 babies born in the U.S. have Down syndrome.
