CANTON -- Community Bank will celebrate its 150th anniversary May 26 at the Canton Community Bank branch at 80 Main St.  at noon.

Customers, staff and community members are invited celebrate this milestone and look ahead to the future of the bank.

The bank’s CEO, CFO and regional manager will be in attendance, as well as local Canton dignitaries.

The celebration includes a cake for guests to enjoy in honor of the bank’s sesquicentennial.

Founded in 1866 as S.D. Hungerford & Co. Bank and later renamed St. Lawrence County National Bank, it all began with one branch location and a few employees in Canton.

Community Bank N.A. has its headquarters in DeWitt, a branch network with nearly 200 locations across New York and northeast Pennsylvania, and more than 2,000 employees.

“We are pleased and humbled to be celebrating the 150th anniversary of Community Bank,” Community Bank N.A. President and CEO Mark Tryniski said. “The history of our sustainability is as timeless as it is simple: always do what’s right for your customers and your communities. Success and growth are merely by-products. I would like to thank and recognize those who are most responsible for this legacy — our associates.”

Tryniski will be at the event.

Speakers include Mark Tryniski, Community Bank N.A. CEO and President; Scott Kingsley, Community Bank N.A. CFO and Executive VP and Rita Walldroff, Community Bank N.A. regional manager, who will be available to discuss the anniversary and what it means to Community Bank.
