CANTON – Canton-based jam band Waydown Wailers are asking for support as they face-off against a Rochester band in the NNY Music March Madness competition.
Voting for the third round began today at noon.
Waydown Wailers drummer Mike Scriminger says the band needs all the help it can get as the wailers face off against a Rochester City band.
“We will need a lot of support,” he said.
The contest featured 64 New York state bands organized by region, but only 16 remain.
People who submit votes need to hit a button at the end of each region to cast votes. There are a total of four.
The bands will compete through three more rounds of voting, culminating with a statewide winner.
This is Waydown Wailers’ first year in the contest.
Also in the contest is the Blind Owl Band from Saranac Lake, they often play shows in St. Lawrence County.
No registration is necessary to vote.
