CANTON -- St. Lawrence NYSARC’s 5th Annual Autism Awareness Walk at the Canton Park recently drew more than 300 people and raised more than $17,000 to support people on the autism spectrum.

Several area teams brought in significant donations. Those that raised $400 or more included Team Ausome, Kyla’s Voice, Team Seth, Team Talon, Team Presto, and Team Yaptastic. There was one individual donation from the Jenson family for $800.

Presenting sponsorship was provided by KeyBank. Media sponsorship was provided by Jason Langstaff and Matt George of Mix 96.1. Event sponsors included Sullivan’s Office Supply/Seasons Gift Shop, Pepsi Cola Ogdensburg Bottlers, Olympia Sports, Potsdam Elks Lodge #2074, and Gotta Dance Studio.

The walk would not have been possible without support from Reverend Michael Catanzaro, the Canton Village Board, Dave Regan, Officer Kevin Mousaw, and Chief Rycroft. Thnbaks also go to the volunteers from SUNY Canton’s Women’s Hockey Team.

Special thanks go to community members and businesses including Deputy Suzanne Williams from St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Child ID program, Walmart, and North Lawrence Dairy, LLC.

St. Lawrence NYSARC is a private, non-profit corporation dedicated to working for and with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Proceeds from the walk will be used for home and community based services for children and youth on the Autism Spectrum. For more information, log on to our website www.slnysarc.org.
