The Northern New York Bassmasters Team Trail opened the 2017 season on Lake Champlain on Saturday.
Last year’s team of the year winners Tyler Capella (Canton) and Jesse Spellicy (Gouverneur) beat out thirty one other teams. They were anchored by 18.20 pounds of bass. Second place went to Tim O’Grady & Steve Garrabrant of Ogdensburg with 17.21 pounds.
Finishing in third place were Willi Steinrotter & Guy Arnold of Waddington with 17.16 pounds.
The lunker of the day was a 4.93 pound bass caught by the team of Chad Shapre and Gary MacIntrye.
The next tournament for the NNY Bassmasters is Saturday, June 24, at Black Lake.
