CANTON – The town of Canton and the CSEA Local 845 Highway Unit which represents Canton town DPW workers recently settled a four-year labor agreement which will see base salary increases each year and establishes health insurance contributions.
Town supervisor Mary Ann Ashley said negotiations on the contract began in May 2018.
The agreement provides a contract that covers January 2018-Dec. 31, 2021.
A total raise of 8.75 percent is projected over the life of the agreement, with employees getting 2 percent for 2018, 2 percent in 2019, 2.25 percent in 2020 and 2.5 percent in 2021.
Annual health insurance premium contributions by employees for 2019 will be 16.5 percent for current employees. Anyone hired on or after Jan. 1, 2019 will provide 2o percent.
Ashley said employees will get an additional floating holiday and a $100 increase in work clothes and work boots reimbursements.
